SHOP LOCAL
The work I should do today was cancelled at short notice, so suddenly I didn’t have to do anything. Going to several clothing stores, I wanted to purchase some clothes. To reduce my carbon footprint, I would like to shop local.* However, I found it extremely difficult nowadays as all of the clothes I saw were made in China.
*Does 'shop local' sound natural here?

Thank you and good afternoon. :)

Yes! Terrific expression and exactly what we say here in England
In your first sentence, I’d slightly change the word order. You didn’t have anything to do.
