I used to listen almost exclusively to rap when I was a teenager and I liked him then. Now, not so much. I still like a few of his songs depending on my mood though.

Funny Eminem-related story: When I was in my early teens, I was the first one up one morning and I decided to stick in my earphones and listen to a little Eminem, anyway, I got a little carried away rapping one of his more explicit tracks, and my dad was secretly listening to the whole thing. I was punished severely.

He used to be my favourite artist during the whole high school period but it's not the case now. I still listen to his songs, those that are more appropriate, such as: Lose yourself, Till I collapse, Beautiful, Space Bound etc. The song "Insane", I loved to sing it, but then (after a long time) I felt embarrassing for singing such lyrics and I started listening to more normal music. But I still think he's a genious rapper. Here, everyone knows who he is but they don't know much about his life and career, neither many people listen to his music. 

Eminem is still probably the most famous rapper in the UK. 10-15 years ago he was massive here. If you asked 100 people on the street to name a rapper I am confident that Eminem would be a very popular choice, even though a lot of people don't like rap music and probably couldn't name many of his songs.

Is it not sacriledge to describe 'Lose Yourself' as hackneyed? lol. I'm not a huge fan of Eminem's music, or rap music in general to be honest. It takes a lot of technical skill to rap the way he does but I have a problem with a lot of his lyrics.
