Answering questions, leaving comments, correcting notebooks...

Hey guys!

Do you do this here on Italki?

And is it important for you to do it or to see others doing it?

For me, it is. You are here to learn a language or improve it and you need someone else for that. As nothing is free, you should do something in return like help the others in their learning. But what is your opinion about that?

And I was wondering something pretty useless. When you correct a notebook, do you have a special code? Like, use a special color or leave a special comment at the end or nothing? I'm just curious.

:)

Correction

Alternative / suggestion / better way of saying thing

Note

However, when there are too many mistakes, I don't highlight anything otherwise, there would be nothing else but highlights ;)

Also, I must admit that I am sometimes frustrated as I do think that some people are not putting the basic effort necessary before entering their post, e.g. no punctuation, no capital letters, lots and lots of typo's, basic spelling of words that can easily be found, etc...

Yes, I usually use red when the correction is obligatory, and blue when it's more of a wordsmithing or improvement to sound more natural/native. I also use blue for comments and explanations because writing whole sentences in red just comes across as obnoxious to me, almost like yelling at someone. :)

Yes. I highlight corrected sentences in red and highlight suggestions in blue. When I notice that a person makes the same mistake several times I add a link that explains that mistake and how to write it correctly.
