I‘m an English learner and interested in reading classics.
Before I start to ask any question, the circumtance should be clarified.
I'm chinese and have read several books in english, this is the list of these books:
1、Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
2、Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
3、Learning English as a Foreign Language For Dummies
7、How to read a book
However，I have an ambitious plan and these books will not satisfy me at all. Here is my plan:
Holy Bible(NKJV I'm reading it right now.)
Sherlock Holmes（four novel）
The Crowd-A Study of the Popular Mind(2 months)
Merriam Webster's vocabulary builder（1 month）
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
The Great Gatsby
The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin
A Short History of Nearly Everything （1 month）
The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire
The lord of the rings
A Study of History（3 months）
Word Power Made Easy
works of Shakespeare
Paradise lost （1 month）
Treatise of Human（1 month）
I want you my friends to help me determine which one is worth for reading and which one isn't. I also hope someone recommend me some books(just the books written in English but not a translation in English) and erase some of them with an explanation. Can I finish it on time？ I really need your help.
Thank you for your recommendation! Stani! And I'll read these two books in a leisure way.
I can recommend the one called 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' by Mark Haddon. It's a pretty good modern detective novel and written in rather simple English as well. Not strictly speaking a classic though, but you might enjoy if you liked Sherlock Holmes books...
Of those you mentioned The Great Gatsby and Ben Franklin's Autobiography are relatively easy reads I think
I also have already finished the reading of Animal farm.
