My favorite ones are "Pulp fiction" directed by Quentin Tarantino, "Dogville" directed by Lars von Trier and if you prefer comedies - movies directed by Edgar Wright, particularly "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World".

Concerning russian movies I recommend old soviet movies written by such directors as Eldar Ryazanov("Sluzhebnyy roman" for example) and Georgiy Daneliya. My favorite nowadays russian director is Andrei Zvyagintsev.
