Let's test it. I went to a language exchange part of the site, set a filter to people who were from the US and were interested in learning Turkish. I found only 7 people who had been active on this site within 24h. Most of them listed more than one language they wish to learn, which is ridiculous in my opinion (I mean they aren't dedicated learners at all). 

I'm just telling that Turkish isn't one of the languages that are in a big demand, so it's better to focus on independed learning than wasting one's time looking for, and begging others for help.

What an incredibly rude thing to say.   How can you even say why would anyone here wish to learn Turkish ??   People from all over the world are learning different things.   I was a foreign language major in college in the early 80s and studied Italian, French, Spanish, German and Arabic.

Now in my 50s, I have resumed study of Egyptian Arabic with Pimsleur cds to great success.

Calling him a whiner too ??    I can see why your profile is the way it is, you are definitely troll material.

I am sure you must be acquainted with the old time motto of ' it is not what you say, but how you say it '.

You may be entirely right, perhaps there are few native English speakers currently wanting to speak German, or Swahili, or Yoruba, but there are still some, as people intermarry, go abroad for business, are American born but have relatives from their parent's native land, etc.

I have been shocked at finding Egyptian people wanting to learn Korean, Chinese people studying Arabic, etc.  So blanket statements are not generally helpful or supportive.

I find private study pretty effective.  I mean I am learning Egyptian Arabic right now with my 16 cd set of Pimsleur, which while repetitious is still quite handy.  However there will be a point where I will be forced to start having small conversations in Arabic to really get a grasp of the language in a more nature way, rather than in a bookish way.   For that I have 6 Egyptian gals who I help, and who help me.

I tend to stick up for the underdog and those who I feel got spoken to unkindly, as I have been treated like crap for years about my weight, face, having a Master's degree and accused of being a smarty pants, my clothes, my hair, etc.  So I know what it is like to feel put down or ripped apart.

Speak more gently Pancake - some of us can't take harshness.

Unfortunately, I know precisely what you mean. I've been treated like shit for a great deal of my life, but I didn't realise it was a rude thing to say in this situation. So I'm sorry about that.

@Kiyama I think you're 100% correct. I feel sorry for myself that I discovered this 'thread forum' so late. Here you don't even need a language partner. You just pay attention to how native speakers express their ideas and learn from it. (And you can write a lot of crazy shit if you want to ;))
