If you are interested in American English and its idiom, most anything by Mark Twain would be fun and instructive. He has a wonderful way with words!

For non-fiction, I would recommend ¨Mindset¨ by Carol Dweck. Although written by a scientist, it is not too technical, and it is a fantastic book to apply to learn the attitudes that will make you more successful at a very wide variety of things. Understanding ¨Mindset¨ should be greatly encouraging to you to persevere with tasks like learning languages.
