Modern Hebrew poems and online bookshop

Which Israeli poets do you recommend? I prefer if you suggest post-1967 Israeli poets. Basically I am a beginner in Modern Hebrew, and as in other languages poems or song lyrics do really help me.

Also, do you know any good Modern Hebrew online bookstore? (Preferably from Europe or Israel)

Thanks :)

Hi Karl,

You can buy modern Hebrew books online from the Israeli bookstore Steimatzky's. They ship to the US and Europe (although not so cheap). http://www.steimatzky.co.il/Steimatzky/pages/default.aspx

For poetry, you might like this volume of poems by Yehuda Amichai titled "Poems of Jerusalem and Love Poems." It has facing English and Hebrew pages, free shipping to Europe from Book Depository: http://www.bookdepository.com/Poems-of-Jerusalem-and-Love-Poems-Yehud-Amichai/9781878818195

Well, I guess you can read Natan Zach's poems, but if you'rea beginner I think you might find songs more helpful than poems, since peoms are written in a very poetical language that is not used everyday

So here are some popular Israeli songs:

lyrics for מלכת השושנים

She uses the word 'וודג here which you probably won't find in the dicitonary because it means "mouth" in gay slang

Hope that helps
