What does "une patate dans le menton" et "son cul plat"
I tried to translate it literally- word by word but it didn't make any sense.

Hi,
In "mettre une patate dans le menton", "patate" means "coup de poing". So the English phrase would be "to punch on the chin".
As for "un cul plat", I'm not aware of any figurative meaning. Literally, it means "flat buttocks" as opposed to "bulging buttocks".
