When speaking to your parents in Korean, you do have to speak in formal or informal language?

It depends.

I speak informally, and at the same time my brother speaks formally. And of corse we have same parents.

A teacher once told me it just depends on the family/relationship. Some use formal language and others use informal. Again, not a native, just what a native told me.
