There's a Japanese word I'm having trouble pronouncing!

I'm trying to learn the Japanese phrase "nan to iu" but I'm unsure how to pronounce "iu"

Do I just pronounce it as two separate syllables, いう?

Or do I blend those two sounds together?

I am pretty sure it kind of sounds like ゆう in this  case

We pronounce "iu" as two separate syllables, but ゆう is also used in casual chat.
