That’s how this name (actually it’s a nickname) is pronounced in Russian language (Робин Гуд)
So Robin Hood was a good man because he helped the poor but in Russian language he became really Good (Гуд) by name. What do you think?'Robin Good' isn't as inaccurate as you might think.
Anyone who has read Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' will be familiar with Puck, also known as Robin Goodfellow (meaning 'good man'). The character of Robin Goodfellow, a mysterious, mischievous and lawless inhabitant of the woods goes back a long way in the mythology of the British Isles. I can add only, that if pronounced by a right way, HOOD in russian would sound like "ХУД". We have two meanings of this word:
1. Bad, ill.
2. Thin, bony.
It gives a slight flavour or shade, that associated with his name. But in original, there are no bad flavours or shades in his name. So, "Гуд" is more reasonable.
