【Qing ming】清明时节
With Tomb-Sweeping Day - a traditional holiday to honour ancestors in China - approaching in early April, it's time to learn a famous ancient Chinese poem written by Du mu(杜牧)who was from Tang Dynasty.
《清明》
(唐)杜牧
清明时节雨纷纷,路上行人欲断魂.
借问酒家何处有?牧童遥指杏花村.
A reference translation in English:
A drizzling rain falls like tears on the Mourning Day;
The mourner's heart is going to break on his way.
Where can a wineshop be found to drown his sad hours?
A cowherd points to a cot 'mid apricot flowers.
Quite a heart breaking poem which expresses the hard-to-bear sorrow. On a certain day (usually in April ) according to the Chinese Luna calendar, family gather to weep the tomb of the ancestors and the dead.The weather seems gloomy and it gives rise to people's grief.
I'd like to discuss it further with u.
