I do agree that it's helpful. I stumbled onto this method when starting with Irish, which has fairly difficult spelling... rather than stress about reading, I would listen to a dialogue or recording many times, then force myself to speak along with the recording - shadowing, essentially - before I allowed myself to look at the text. Later I was told that my pronunciation sounded pretty natural, and I think it's thanks to doing this shadowing technique from the start. I recommend giving it a try!

That is one of those techniques which may seem obvious but you'd never think about doing it until you get to know it. Speaking is by far my main issue when studying english, especially because I still don't have a language partner to help me with the language. But now I think I'll be able to improve my speaking using this shadowing technique. Thanks for sharing!

It really works, not just with the language, it's also used in singing classes. It is important repeat several times during the video or audio and then for several sessions. Excellent article Matteo!

I am sure to understand it may help your speaking and listening very much but you had better practice shadowing it out loudly to get used to the pronunciation on your own.
