Hello Lawrence! If you want to write better English, rather than recommend a book, I would recommend that you read about the things you want to write about. 

For instance, if I want to write about global warming, I would first read articles or books about it. It helps me get used to the global warming terms and the sentence structure. 

You'll simply be mimicking the way those articles are written, the same way you mimic a native speaker of your chosen language.

The more you mimic a native speaker, the more you sound like one. The more you read about a topic, the better you can write about it.
