How do you consider someone as a friend or acquaintance? Can you say all friends on face book are true friends for you?

If not, how do you consider someone as a friend or acquaintance?

If you actually care about a person and they actually care about you then that person is a friend in my opinion

The definition of friend is different. It depends on people. I feel strange if I call those people who are seen only on social media "my friends". We should create a new word to call them as Samuel said, "Internet friends". But still, I think I want a better one, without a word "friend". I'm not a creative person so I can't come up with idea. I bet someone will make a new word in the future. Many new words were born so far in the internet world. Does anyone have ideas? We can ask AI.

That's a good question. I see some friends who only claim to be that. They schedule and decide to learn or teach you. I did all my bests to have my time freed to chat. Interestingly, someone simply say: sorry I can't talk now. Haha. That's a unilateral friendship in which I am not interested at all. So I leave them alone in their word.

Well when it comes to my facebook i only have there friends.

I consider friends people with who i enjoy spending time and have something to talk about or something to do. As a rule i do not trust anyone ever, so unlike Alice, it has nothing to do with trust.

I consider aquaintances people that i don´t know much (only exchanged a few words), colleagues since i´m in contact with them only while working, and some classmates that i ´ve never really talked to.

Anyone I know can be an acquaintance, whether I know that person to an actual personal or a more superficial level. But in order for someone to be considered as a friend by me, that individual and I must have been through something together, which usually constitutes an experience usually not shared by most people.

I may also refer to an acquaintance as a "friend" (for instance during introduction I may say "this is my friend X") without actually thinking so; that would just be me trying to be polite, and I think if the other person is a mature human being, it would be understood.
