*bite the bullet:it is strange way to express/say that you decide to do something difficult or unpleasant that one has been putting off or hesitating over
*in a pickle: in a trouble,hardship and difficult.(shakespeare)
*fool's paradise:a state of happiness based on a person's not knowing about or denying the existence of potential trouble.(shakespeare)

I assume 'bite the bullet" is from when they had to do some sort of operation on your body without using a pain killer. You would bite a bullet to try to deal with the pain. Maybe that is only in movies, though. :)
