Overarching theme
Hello...
I wanted to find out whether is correct or not, in a formal writing, this sentence: "The overarching them of this report is to describe the rationales of..."

Thanks for getting back to me.
Yes I meant theme. What I want to write is the introduction of a report for Cambridge C1 exam. In the report, I should make use of a wide range of vocabulary and demonstrate that I command the writting style. As I am not familiar with the "expression" overarching theme, I just wanted to be sure that I can use it in my formal report.
