This doesn't sound natural to me. "A great amount of knowledge" or "heaps of knowledge" sound more natural, the second option being a more colloquial one. The colloquial meaning of baggage is issues from your past that you carry into your present. Ie. "He still has heaps of rmotional baggage from his breakup with Melanie."
