I need to know something please help !
so I am learning Japanese from an other app which is lingodeer (but whatever) and I am only learning with hiragana but I have a question
i have learnt that this : わたしはいぎりすじんです means I am British. but is it correct writing like this or ?
same for あのおんあのひともいぎりすじんですか
I've learnt this means "is this woman British too?" is it correct please or is there an other writing system or ..?
Country names, words deriving from foreign languages like ball, bottle, pen, milk, etc are mostly written in KATAKANA.
So, it should be: わたしはイギリスじん(人)です。This = この That= あの 女性もイギリス人ですか。
I suppose that LD also explains the basic rules but also GENKI and TAE KIM grammar guide is very good too. Good luck.
Btw, don't introduce yourself わたしのなまえはxxxxです like most beginners do.
It should be xxxです・といいます・ともうします。
Looks correct to me, but of course I'm not fluent. As for the writing system, it would be written with a mixture of kanji and kana. It would look something like this:
私はイギリス人です。
watashi wa igirisu jin desu. (Literally: "I England person am," but we interpret it as "I am British")
あの女の人もイギリス人ですか?
ano on'na no hita mo igirisu jin desu ka? ("That woman of person also england person is? or" Is that woman also British?")
You're right. The "Britain" (British) part should be in Katakana because it's a loan word (like フランスじん for France/French person).
わたしはイギリスじんです。あのおんあのひともイギリスじんですか。
