I need to write an undergraduate thesis. I don't know how to choose book and what theories that I can use. Now, I'm preparing for my master entrance exam. Time is really limited, and I still need to finish this thesis. I feel helpless. Who can help me? Is there any recommendation about books that I can analyze from perspective of feminism? Or do you have other recommendation of other theories. Last time I wrote a draft about the joy luck club from the perspective of crosscultural communication. And my teacher said it doesn't work. I never feel so helpless and hopeless ever. Because I have limited time to prepare for my master entrance exam.
How about a nonfiction book? In 1968, The Double Helix: A Personal Account of the Discovery of the Structure of DNA came out, and a several of us were reading it. I found it appalling in many ways. I remember saying to a friend, a woman who was a post-doc, "I keep getting the feeling that 'Rosie' Franklin is more important than Watson makes her out to be. And I don't like the way he keeps calling women 'popsies.'"
There is probably not anything to be analyzed deeply, from the standpoint of feminism or "feminist theory," beyond saying that James D. Watson shared the male chauvinism that was normal in the United States in those days.
Feel free to message me if you get stuck, it gets easier once you get going, dont panic
Claudia
