Are you on the website through a browser on the iPad or iPhone? Just in case it happens again, if you hold down for a second then let go on the text, two blue dots will appear and you can drag them. Then select copy from the words that appear. To paste just hold down on the black space and do the same but select paste. I've done this whenever I need to copy/paste on the iPad.

Are you using the app on the phone? In the app it's impossible to copy and paste. But if you open the browser on your phone or on your PC it should be possible. Don't give up. It's really worth it. There are some great correctors who are only in the notebook section and don't check the discussions.
