In the United States, watching the ball drop at Times Square on live TV (Dick Clark's New Years' Eve Party on NBC) is a tradition. Special dinners may occur earlier in the evening at the beginning of the broadcast. Fireworks may go off on public parks and tourist attractions after the ball has dropped.
