Just received a polite, somewhat informative message from the italki team...
The message follows below:

*********************************************************

Hi,

Thank you for providing us with constructive feedback about the upcoming launch of teach.italki.com. Your suggestions will help us to improve italki and also our future communications.

Our long term plan is to improve the user experience for students and allow teachers to market their services better. We strongly believe that this will be beneficial to all our teachers and students. However, we understand that removing or updating features may have an impact.

We are reconsidering these changes and will inform you of the outcome next week.

Sincerely,
Teacher Team

"We are reconsidering these changes..."
--- Gee, is it possible that they may actually be hearing our pleas?

I know we should be hopeful and optimistic about the outcome, but... they have already taken decision which they have mentioned in the email:  "We strongly believe that this will be beneficial to all our teachers and students. However, we understand that removing or updating features may have an impact."

You should notice that emboldened word, "strongly", that means the "however", they wrote after that was just to make you feel good. So, guys, don't breed false hope! Sorry, but that's what I got from the tone of the email.

Wow, there are actual people working for italki and responding (however vaguely) to customer feedback?

I'd be great if they'd explain how they're planning to enhance the site. The last time they did a major overhaul, they promised new and cool features. I'm still waiting for those. The only new thing was the Benny Lewis language hacking thing which left me unimpressed .

Wow! At least something! I really hope they will leave instant tutoring and lesson length how it is. Thanks for sharing Richard!

I think you're right, Phil. I received the same email as Richard. I didn't get in touch with them either and I doubt they were thanking me for the last comment I made here :)

Just so you know, I got the exact same form letter. And I had not even bothered to provide a single word of “feedback”. Guess it was just easier to send the same letter to all 5000 teachers.
