How do you choose language partner here? Can you tell me how do you look for language partner? Is your choice based mainly on sex and age?

I might be wrong but in my opinion, it's better to look for a group of people. Reason being, sometimes after talking to the same person, again and again, you will get in a comfort zone, and I think speaking any language is more about getting out of your comfort zone instead of learning how to speak.

It depends upon one's perception...
For me language partner must be experienced, well mannered truthful and having really interest in teaching or helping his or her partner... :)

You may refer to this entry which states the reasons why it is not easy to find an eligible language partner. After that, you might be interested in changing your policy to find a language partner. That is very true to find an English language partner who targets on your primary language, Russian. It has to take some time to find. No worries, as long as you keep going on, you will find the tips of seeking an eligible language partner.

Gender may be an issue in the very beginning for some men but it would be gone soon only if you can appreciate your goal in the long course of learning a new language.

At first I tried to send messages to native speakers (men and women) who mentioned in their profiles that they were looking for language partners and who's interests were similar to mine.

Nobody answered:)

Then I only answered to messages, nobody among my language partners is a native speaker, but I've found some brilliant people, interesting, clever, curious and open-minded. As for me, exchange of ideas no less important than language exchange:)

No, it's mainly based upon availability and compromise. Sex and age don't matter by one bit.
