About Christianity I like English movies, but I don't know a lot about Christianity so I sometimes have trouble understanding what's going on. I think a certain level of knowledge about Christianity is essential to enjoy some English movies like Shawshank redemption, Seven or so.Do you have any recommendation to learn about what Christianity is like?Books, websites, YouTube videos , Anything is OK. Or, Just reading the Bible is the best way?

Reading The Bible is very difficult. There are a lot of archaic words, there are a lot of odd actions and thoughts, controversial ideas. It is almost impossible to sort out in all of this without knowledge of historical context. I would suggest starting with some historical texts.

The old movie Jesus Christ Superstar is worth watching, and reveals many of the underlying philosophical ideas, in my opinion ! Of course, it is no kind of "primer" on any of the many current variants of Christianity. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_Christ_Superstar_(film)

There's a brief outline at http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/

More of an academic overview is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity

Hi Sam,

I understand what you mean. All of the cultural knowledge of Christianity runs through European and pan-American art (and lots of African art as well).

There is Christianity: A Very Short Introduction.

I will recommend these books too..

Jesus the Christ by J.E Talmage

The lectures on faith(not sure of the author but attributed to J.Smith

Again, you should read your Bible carefully and understand it precisely. Memorize passages that stand out to you as you read and study it.Apply what you learn.Follow the direction the Lord directs you as you study and feel what you are reading.Keep an open heart and open mind .And as you ask Him to build your faith,He will.
