Workflow #1. User needs research 🔬

The best way to understand what your users need is to ask them. 😀

1. Interview

Prepare questions and go to you customers or call them. Important: do not ask what and how you should do you application or website. You should ask about the problems and situations they have. What they do in some situations, how they solve problems now.

Usually 10 people for one role is enough to see the main pain of your user. Also ask more people for statistics. Use survey and add an optional field to the end of the survey, where ask about any ideas. Sometimes it is very interesting and useful.

2. Survey

I used SurveyMonkey, but now I like to use Google Forms. It’s free.

Add different kind of fields for the answers.

TRICK! ✨

When you send the link to the survey you don’t know who will be an answer. For example when you send the link by email to your customers. The solution is to add field to your survey with label like “Contact” and fill it by adding key parameter in the link.

All answers you will see in the table on Google Drive. Do not forget to set notification about new answers: Tools → Notification rules.

Usually email senders provide special code for include into email information about subscribers. Add these codes like[EMAIL], [PHONE] in to the link to your survey.

Normally it's best to post texts for correction in the notebook entry section. It's easier to correct there. Here's a post explaining the notebook entry section: https://www.italki.com/discussion/204748
