"Inspiration porn is the portrayal of people with disabilities as inspirational solely or in part on the basis of their disability. The term was coined in 2012 by disability rights activist Stella Young in an editorial in Australian Broadcasting Corporation's webzine Ramp Up and further explored in her TEDx Talk. She rejected the idea that disabled people's otherwise ordinary activities should be considered extraordinary solely because of disability. Criticisms of inspiration porn include that it "others" people who experience disability, that it portrays disability as a burden (as opposed to focusing on the societal obstacles that people who experience disability face), and that reducing people who experience disability to inspirations dehumanizes them. The 2016 TV show Speechless explored the concept in an episode where it explains inspiration porn as "portrayal of people with disabilities as one-dimensional saints who only exist to warm the hearts and open the minds of able-bodied people."

What's your take on this? Is inspiration porn an objectification of disabled people for the benefit of non-disabled people or does it support the striving for inclusion and normalisation of the views towards disabled people?
Do you follow any "inspirational" disabled personalities (e.g. bloggers, youtubers, motivational speakers)?
"Oh, I'm a horrible person for being inspired by a disabled person, please forgive me."
Everyone has challenges in life, and everyone has to live in a world where people may say or think unkind things about us. You don't have to let other people define you. It's up to you to be tough enough to not be affected by what other people think of you.

You have this preconception that porn is something bad so you think the analogy is bad. Apparently, there are people who perpetuate the stigma against watching porn so you have that preconception (unwittingly). Troglodyte and I don't have it so we're OK with the term.
Also, arousal doesn't only apply to sex, in psychology it refers to the experience of any increased physiological activity in general. In other words, it can be a synonym for excitement, of sorts.
Dravis, you are still loquacious:D BTW, the word porn here is to catch the attention of people and this kind of sensitive words are often mixed with some gentle words to generate curiosity and express their views. Another word I can think of is Foodgasm.:D
Well, first of all, I don't consider those people as disable because I am no way all-abled person. I follow all type of person because for me it's their thoughts and the way they see world matter the most. I have seen some video of Nick Vujicic and he is surely an inspiration and his effort is really commendable.

Why are the words "dirty" and "shameful" your first association? It's 2019. People watch porn in the privacy of their rooms because they enjoy it, I don't think we should porn-shame them. And this activity Miriam is talking about was named "inspirational porn" because it's something people not only enjoy watching but can also get inspired by.

I disagree with these words of Stella Young as well as I don't buy her words that her speech was not inspirational. It was.
I also can't accept her statement that in our world disability must be a norm.
We should treat disabled or "Challenged " people with respect and in a humane way.
I have seen many inspirational speeches by disabled people, but I respect more those who don't speak about how strong they are facing the tough reality of being disabled, but those who just live their lives without complaining and their achievements we can see watching Paralympic games or things like that.
It is clear that those who come out with their disabilities doing inspirational talks make others feel sorry for them and think how they would behave were they disabled like them.
That's why I don't follow any of those who made themselves public persons because of their health issues.
And NO, I am neither rude nor inhuman person.
