Today I came across two posts on social media: one of them was posted by an English speaker (who thanked his brother for a great party) and another one from a Chinese native who expressed his gratitude to his mom. Both guys used internet slang, and instead of writing "thank you" the first one wrote 10q and the Chinese guy - 三Q (san Q).
I spent some time thinking about why the same word is scripted differently in these two languages. And then I thought "Why we don't use it in Russian?" When I try to remember any Russian internet slang, nothing comes to my mind!
So now my question is Why do some languages use such expressions a lot while others can't think of even one? How often do you use this kind of language?

I didn't know 10q. I usually only use a smiley face if I'm happy and type everything out, maybe I'm old (I'm 32) but I'm so out of sync with all these.
The random thing though, I will say before the internet was so huge, and making words out of numbers etc. we used to be clever with calculators instead and make words out of the shape of the number. You have to put the calculator upside down though.

Pi number for the syllable "pi" in a swear word.
In Hungarian, you could write many words partially replaced by numbers, but it's not really used anywhere.
It could be popular in the era of SMS.
The only one I still see today in online messages is "jó8" instead of "jó éjt"(meaning "good night"). It comes from the English pronunciation of 8, which is close to "éjt".
The only Russian internet slang I can think of is intentional misspelling of certain words, ex.: "лошать", "нравица", "низя ругаццо!" etc. I don't see it often, but some people write like this. It's funny
