Do people actually refer to the iTalki community guidelines?
I fleetingly saw what was clearly a commercial post about a supposed job offer, but it landed on a 404 when I tried to check. This brings up the point, do people ever check the documented community guidelines? This one was clearly in the category of phishing / spam as per https://support.italki.com/hc/en-us/articles/206353468-The-italki-Community-Guidelines so anyone who read that wouldn't do it in the first place.

Pushy self-promoters never pay attention to community guidelines. They do not worry about annoying people, their only concern is trying to get maximum publicity for themselves. It only takes a few seconds to post, and since they never had a good-faith intention of participating, they don't mind if they get banned.

In some cases they are trying to get a higher Google search ranking by getting their link into as many high-ranked sites as possible. It's a numbers game and they just spew their link as quickly as they can, in as many places as they can.

I am agree with you John, that we couldn't force everyone to use the guidelines. Yet, what we could do is just helps the Italki to manage the community, by reporting those people.

Sam whose membership terminated the guilty party? or YOUR? membership in the wider general sense, that would include all of us. Are you referring to the guilty parties membership or your own membership.

Other languages do not have this "your they" who the hell are is he/they talking about problem, it cause many problems in both directions to new language learners, both those learning English and English native born speakers trying to learn a language that does not have this problem.

Who is they? whose your? my your or their your? Is often hard to explain to both parties in a language learning verbal exchange.

I agree, John. But what's the point of flouting a laid down guideline and then have your post knocked off and probably your membership terminated if it is a bad enough transgression?

You cannot stop people from attempting to phish well established websites, or your personal emails after they may have purchased a list with your email address on it. Or found it by searching.
You cannot prevent ordinary citizenships or self employed people or people who are running unsuccessful businesses attempting to phish out of desperation.
You cannot prevent scammers and spammers either professional or amateur attempting to phish websites such as this one.

All you can attempt to do is either try to identify via software, or ignore or report it, to italki or the authorities in your country, if they have any spam reporting facilities.
