YOLO: The good and the bad things about this mantra..”Carpe Diem”
I started sports in the most unexpected way because I met people during a hiking trip who emulates the lifestyle that is Instagram-worthy but impractical. Our group leader at that time was a former teacher who stopped working for a year to climb mountains. He has many followers and a blog that was named as one of the most influential hiking blogs in my country. Despite a huge following, what happens behind the scenes is different. He has no job, no house, no savings and relies on what he earns in organized tours. The team he has created has the same mentality, the YOLO mentality which is worthy of doing, in my opinion occasionally.
The women in the team are more responsible in the sense that we maintained our day jobs, save money and go on adventures from time to time, but not consistently. “Carpe Diem, ” he whispered while drinking a cup of black coffee, and the backdrop is a picturesque view of mountain waterfalls. From that point, I knew that even if I love that team, I must leave and create my own journey.
The YOLO mentality became a cultural sensation. It is fondly called a millennial thing and also young adults living life to the fullest. There is no age restriction of course. However, it is good to keep in mind that we must also prepare for our future while living life to the fullest.
