Your voice is my favorite sound: What is your favorite SOUND?
I once read that sounds are important because it can define the character of a person, a place or even a thing. The first sound I heard in the morning when I was a kid are chickens. It is definitely not my favorite sound but I didn’t have a phone back then so it was basically my alarm clock. The sound of other people’s laughter makes me happy, especially if it is weird. The sound of hot water or coffee boiling gives me a sense of comfort. The sound of birds chirping in the mountains connects me to mother nature in a way that I would not need to use my MP3 player. The sound of the door closing or opening signals visitors. Sound are important, sometimes even more important than words.

I saw a list of sounds in Twitter.com

A list of sweet sound
Leaves skittering along the sidewalk.
A far-off train in the nighttime.
Waves crashing into the shore.
The silence of a snowfall.
The sound of rain
The soft laughter of friends gathered around a cracking fire
Coffee percolating ---this is my personal favorite
Ice cubes clinking into a glass in the summertime.

As language learners, learning sounds is important because even before we utter words, we utter sounds first.

@José Maia Thanks for sharing. Indeed sounds also remind us of people who are close to us, these are familiar sounds that we grew up with or sounds that we associate with people.
