Community TutorIn Hindi/Bengali we say that, I eat AIR and even SCOLDING.. Yes, I am SERIOUS
Languages just show how people in different parts of the world look at things or think about certain situations. In continuation to my last post, I just wanted to mention what else we eat, which practically we can't eat :) :)
Instead of saying, I will get scolded, it is said, I will eat scolding.
Hindi: Mai daat khaaunga.. मैं डाँट खाऊंगा
Bengali: Ami boka khaabo.. আমি বকা খাব
Similarly, we eat beating, air in both languages and also importance in Hindi.
Hindi: Wo bhao khati hai literally would mean she eats importance. It actually means that she feels she is important.
