When parents are “too nice” (according to English-speaking cultural values) to their child, giving their child everything he or she could want, we say the parents “spoil” the child. The connotations are usually negative (like the parents are raising their child the wrong way, such that he or she will develop undesirable personality traits), and this is very common in English-speaking culture. (In the context of the movie, the connotation was not necessarily negative, simply an emphatic way of referring to pampering.) The less common word, “pamper” means basically the same thing, only it is taken as something positive.
