Americans eat eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, and fruit. I'm sure I've forgotten something. Our breakfasts are too high in fat and much too high in carbohydrates. We don't eat sweets for breakfast. Some people might eat doughnuts or danish for breakfast but that is generally considered unhealthy.

We would never eat fish for breakfast.

I generally eat eggs and sausage and an English muffin for breakfast. I like strong coffee in the morning but I would never drink espresso or Turkish coffee for breakfast...though I love Turkish coffee later in the day.

@Katya - I like your Australian use of language. Let me tell you how things differ in the UK. Your breakfast would be called English Breakfast and a Continental Breakfast is usually only croissant and coffee/juice! As for Russian breakfast . . . we will leave that for Elisa's family :)

@Elisa, my dear, you can understand that we are Russian just by looking at your breakfast menu. Normally, we wouldn't start our day with candies. On weekends I make continental breakfast: roasted mushrooms and tomatoes, fried bacon and eggs with a toast of course. The saying goes "Eat your breakfast yourself, eat half of your lunch and give your dinner to the enemy" :) Your hubby should know. ;)
