Here in Peru we have a great dinner and eat turkey or chicken even pig. When it is 12:00 oclock all the family catch an old suitcase and run around the house like crazy dudes I know but this costume is made because they think that by doing this they are going to travel and to be lucky in the very next year

Some Australians like to have the full Christmas celebration: roast turkey, plum pudding, fruit mince pies and shortbread. Others have a barbeque at home, in a park or at the beach. It depends on the weather. Many people cook seafood on the barbeque and prepare international salads and desserts. Presents are opened either on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Religious people attend church services.

I'm a middle-aged living in a household without kids. I find me and my friends really abhor the focus on conspicuous consumption. So, more and more, the holiday season is about making plans to get together with friends to enjoy good food and good conversation. I exchange small gifts with special friends. I also send cards to my favorite relatives and friends in other cities and countries who I don't get a chance to see regularly. As well, for me, because it's the end of the year, I spend time thinking about what I accomplished that year (if anything :-), and what I should be doing in the year to come.
