It is not ust just celebreties...Korea has a very high suicide and divorce rate.

Maybe they find it hard to be happy with a culture that is very focused on image, pressure from work,  how they present themselves?

Korea is still developing in its diversity of beliefs and such...they can be kind of old-fashioned with some of their standards.

I am not Korean though, this is just my <em>general</em> opinion as a foreigner observing Korean culture.

Not just Korea,  many people now find it harder to appreciate what they have in life with so many distractions and fake solutions to make you happy. 

As for korean celebrities, the entertainment industry is VERY competetive and I can see why it may overwhelm someone who cannot just brush off criticisms from fans and media. The media and crazy fans is an added pressure from being an idol/role model/celebrity in Korea.

Because you read the most exciting news about Korea show business. No many Korean celebrities did suicide. It's actually very few. And the reasons why did they suicide is usually nothing relation to their jobs also drugs. It's usually personal reasons.

Looking forward to a Korean guys sharing their opinions about this topic.

but i think gap between the richest and the poorest exists more in a lot of countries.

my guess is high pressure from work.
