What is "to know" :-)
Okay my native language is Dutch, I am fluent in English, but I lack some vocabulary. I once did some test and I know about 17,000 words and a native speaker about 30,000. I am pretty good in German too, but I make some mistakes in gramatical cases when I speak fast. I can speak Spanish reasonably. I was married to a Spanish speaking girl for ten years and we spoke Spanish at home. But I divorced her ten years ago, so I have forgotten it a little. Apart from that I can make myself more or less understandable in French, and I can order a beer and talk about small things in Korean. But mostly I do not count the latter two, since my knowledge of those two languages is just too small to be able to say I really "speak" them.
In many careers though, especially technical careers, one language is more than enough.
