I am not sure about the meaning of the song taken from the lyrics, but, based on the concept of the video, i can assure you that i am worried. Lol why?
In this video, children become just like their parents. Buddies and acquaintances of mine share similar evidence... And there comes the horrible part... me. I am afraid to become even a bit like my father. Now, i am not going to talk bad about him, let's be respectful, but every time i hear the saying ''apple does not fall far from the apple tree'', a part of me dies inside.
I am more likely to choose death than to become satisfied with having no future dreams, lack of spirituality, passion for tv and bread, bad parenting skills, and a lack of interest in anything new...

you are right, the song is talking about this dads , who are not present for their children, and we are maybe in the same situation , thinking to not be like my dad, an absent dad.
most of the time , I feel that I am different from him , and I will act and do my best to not be like him. you have seen an example and if you are wise and smart, try to not be like him by acting and not chosing the way and actions he did. try to work on yourself and good luck, we are in the same situation :).
