Hi Neslihan,

If I were you, I wouldn't read Arabic story books because I think it won't help you alot with your goals. Most worth reading Arabic books that I'm aware of can be too hard to understand for native speakers.

While you may want to learn the simple words and simple phrases, I'd suggest the following:
Pick an English speaking movie or a TV show that you like, download it and go get proper subtitles for it from websites like (subscenes.com). Friends TV show is very good for this purpose as they talk about alot of stuff in life.

There are also some Cartoon shows that are dubbed in Arabic and can be found easy on YouTube. If you are interested, here is some of the shows I know:
المحقق كونان (Detective Conan, Japanese manga, the English language release was renamed to Case Closed).
القناص (Hunter × Hunter. A Japanese manga that has been translated into English and released in North America by Viz Media since April 2005).
سيمبا (The Lion King. A Disney media franchise).
So I believe those are very good. Maybe you can watch the episode in English and then watch it again in Arabic.

Have fun
