My dear! I am studying at a university. My major is English and my level now is intermediate. With this one, should I practice active listening or passive listening ? Please help me to distinguish them. Can you give me advice to study ? Especially, I do not know what to do in active listening with my now level
Hello! I am a beginner too. I am taciturn so I only practice my English by passive listening and i can't improve my English. :(
Thanks for all opinions. But I am a beginner. That means I should practice active listening more than passive one. However, I don't know what the active listening. What I have to do with this method? Listen and take not then check the script or do something else?
For me personally, passive listening is useless in terms of improving listening comprehension. Unless I'm concentrating and focusing on what I'm hearing I take nothing in and don't improve. Passive listening was beneficial when I was a beginner and I was just getting used to hearing the different sounds and trying to make them out, but now I'm past that stage it isn't helpful to me at all.
I think effective listening is active rather than passive.
In passive listening, you’re like a recorder, because there is no reaction.
Why don't you do both.
This actually gives you a better results and It will improve your learning.
