What do you think about Yoda's speech and emblematic quotes?

Hi, all!

I had a very interesting talk with a friend who lives in the US last night. We're talking about the Spanish lessons I'm giving to beginner students and I said "The Spanish lessons we have". He recalled Yoda-ish way of speaking and started to talk about him. I've not watched "Star wars" so he had to send me clips of Yoda's speech. He also shared Yoda's famous quote: "Try not. Do or do not. There's no try". I love that quote.

I think Yoda's quotes and speech are very intersting, now I found myself placing words differently to sound more "Yoda-ish" hahaha. I think Yoda is a wise character and his speech makes him sound more profound.

What do you think about Yoda's speech and quotes? :D

Did Frank Oz really do all three characters Dan? I marvel at that kind of talent.

Yoda as the exotic guru from a far-off land I guess really should have a foreign accent and way of speaking ... you're right! Good point Dan.

It shows that word order is relatively unimportant in English, and that sentences can retain their meanings with rearrangement of words. Yoda's speech is intriguing because it seems fresh, strange, and exotic, while still being perfectly meaningful.

Yoda is also strange to me because to me I hear the unmistakable voice of Grover on Sesame Street, coming from a character who looks and acts so different. It's curious because Frank Oz is obviously capable of doing multiple voice characterizations--he also does your ol' buddy Bert, and sounds nothing like Grover or Yoda.

Dorothy, no it is just an impression. The way Master Yoda talks and behaves eminds the figure of an old chinese master who delivers his moral teachings htrough metaphorical sentences like Confucius or Mencius. It is also the case with Master Splinter in the Ninja Turtles.

Elias, I'm curious, did you read that somewhere or is that just your impression?
