I don't mean to gloat, but I already knew what gloat meant even if others did not know. You see, I am a native speaker of English and a pretty smart Canadian, eh? You see . . . I'm gloating!

To gloat is to brag about oneself, especially after a victory or triumph.

It is like bragging - talking pridefully about one's ability or superior situation - but unlike bragging, gloating tends to imply a context in which another person's defeat or inadequacy is being used as a foil for the gloater's feelings of superiority or as their target for ridicule.
