Do the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the drawbacks? Nowadays, more and more students are going to study in foreign countries. Besides there are definitely many difficulties waiting for them, I strongly believe that those drawbacks cannot measure up the benefits which the students can gain. Speaking of the obstacles, there are many difficulties entwined with studying abroad. Students may suffer the culture shock, causing the feeling of homesick and depressed in studying. Additionally, language barriers negatively affect the students in both professional studying and daily communication. This phenomenon can have effect ranging from less effectiveness in understanding lessons to some mental diseases, when they cannot communicate with people around them and start the fear the feeling of loneliness. Moreover, they have to scarify their studying time for earning money on their own to cover their costly tuition fees and daily spending. On the contrary, I am on the side to support studying abroad because of its huge benefits. Beyond those drawbacks, students can have opportunities to study in some prestigious colleges or university with many lecturers who are experts in their field. The more students expose themselves into local life, the more knowledge and experience of culture and customs they learn. There is obviously that we should give more importance to studying abroad since the qualifications gained in prestigious universities can open doors to better jobs. The direct contact with local people can broaden students’ horizons and help them to immerse themselves into a foreign language. In conclusion, it is undeniable drawbacks in studying abroad, but I strongly argue that students grow up by difficulties and the benefits of studying abroad leaves behind its disadvantage.
