Q1. Should Amazon stock every product it sells?
No. Amazon doesn’t have to stock every product because it should waste money. Inventory is evil money. Even though customers rarely require some products, if they stock these products in inventory, it is just waste space of inventory. If there are order products that are rarely required, they can give orders to retailers directly.
Amazon has to find out selling trends of products and decide which products should be stocked in inventory.
Q2. What advantage can bricks-and-mortar players derive from setting up an online channel? How should they use the two channels to gain maximum advantage?
Bricks-and mortar players can make another selling route by an online channel. They also have offline stores. That means they can use theirs store as inventory. Therefore, they can take advantage of shipping time by setting up and online channel. For maximum advantage, they have to know how many quantities of products they have to stock in theirs store by finding out selling trends of products considering an offline and online channels.
