Television has been a phenomenon of the modern age. Most people spend their leisure time in front of the "magic screen" every day watching their favourite endless series and movies. Nowadays, there is a serious debate, if watching TV is only a waste of time or if it can also have a positive impact on human knowledge.

There is no doubt that we can watch TV not only for fun but also to learn. Firstly, there is a wide range of programmes and special channels about the natural world, hstory, art or discoveries which are worth watching. Secondly, there is no dispute that watching movies in their original version either with or without subtitles can be a significant help in the field of language learning. I know a lot of people who were able to improve their language skills only by watching foreign movies.

The next way of improving our knowledge is watching various quizes and competitions. There have been  many of them and it could be a great fun to watch some together with your relatives and friends, betting on who is better.

From my point of view, on the one hand ,people, especially children and teenagers, spend more time in front of TV  than necessary but on the other hand, when we choose some educational programmes we can learn a lot.
