Write a composition answering the following question:Television entertains, but can it also educate? Television have been a phenomenon of the modern age. Most of the people spend their leisure time in front of the "magic screen" every day to watch their favourite endless serials and movies. Nowadays, there is a serious debate, if watching TV is only a waste of time or if it can also have a positive impact on a human knowledge. There are no doubts that we can watch TV not only for fun but also for learning. Firstly, there is a wide range of programmes and special channels about the natural world, hstory, art or discoveries which is worth watching. Secondly, there is no dispute that watching movies in an original version either with or without subtitles can be a significant help in the field of learning languages. I know a lot of people who were able to improve their language skills only by watching foreign movies. The next way of improving our knowledge is watching various quizes and competitions. There have been really many of them and it could be a great fun to watch some together with your relatives and friends, betting who is better. From my point of view, on the one hand people, especially children and teenagers, spend in front of TV more time than is necessary but on the other hand, when we choose some convenient programmes we can learn a lot.

Write a short essay answering the following question: Television entertains, but can it also educate?

Television is a phenomenon of the modern age. Most people spend their leisure time in front of the "magic screen" every day watching their favourite series and movies. Nowadays, there is a serious debate, as to whether watching TV is only a waste of time or if it can also have a positive impact on human knowledge.

There is no doubt that we can watch TV not only for fun but also for learning. Firstly, there is a wide range of watchable programmes and special channels about the natural world, history, art or discoveries. Secondly, there is no dispute that watching untranslated foreign language movies with or without subtitles can be a significant help in the field of learning languages. I know a lot of people who were able to improve their language skills by watching foreign movies.

The next way of improving our knowledge is watching various quizes and competitions. There are lots of them and it is great fun to watch them together with your relatives and friends, betting on the outcome.

From my point of view, on the one hand people, especially children and teenagers, spend more time than is necessary in front of TV  but on the other hand, when we choose some educational or foreign language programmes we can learn a lot.

It is really a debatable topic but I think it depends on the circumstances, nature of program and who is watching. Every kind of show or entertaining stuff is being on aired it may be useful for someone but others. I think T.V is a channel for entertainment now a days instead of learning ..........................
