양산 is similar to an umbrella, but it is for blocking the sun, (<--this part is confusing because umbrellas are also used to block the sun. I only corrected it grammatically) so it has a UV index.

Many Korean women (Mrs) carry a 양산 in their bag. In Korea, fair skin is a beauty factor, so many women put up umbrellas while they walk down a street on sunny days. ***there are many ways to say the last sentence without changing the meaning

양산은 우산과 비슷하지만 양산은 햇빛을 막기 위한거라서 UV지수가 있어요.

Parasol is originated from western, so most of the westerners know it.(Please refer to wikipedia.) However, Koreans call the big ones as 'parasol', and small ones as "양산, a combined word of sun and umbrella".
