Breastfeeding on Subway A couple of days ago, a picture was posted on the social media. A woman was breastfeeding her baby on a crowded subway train in Beijing. She was with her husband, but neither she nor her husband did anything to cover her breast while she was breastfeeding the baby. A passenger took a picture of it and posted on her own space. It was then reposted by a volunteer group on their official site with the comment “Don’t expose your sexual organs in public”, which has caused a furious debate in China these days. The passenger and the volunteer group were condemned for taking and sharing the picture. If I were that passenger, I wouldn't have done this. However, I'm not supporting that woman either. What she did would have made me feel very uncomfortable if I were standing in front of her. I’m not against breastfeeding, but I really think they should have used a nursing cover or something like that. They have the right to feed their baby anytime anywhere they want (Though I believe it’s highly unhygienic to do it on a crowded subway train, but it’s their baby anyway. Who am I to comment on this?); while people on the train have the right not to watch this. It’s better if both sides respect the privacy of the other side. Below is a picture of Beijing Subway train. Just to let you know how crowded it is, haha.

I won't go into depth on how strongly I feel on the breastfeeding topic. I am a mom of 3 kids and support breastfeeding. I don't know what other countries feel on it but I feel that a baby needs to be fed just like any other person no matter where or when.

In USA, we have this debate of where and how to breastfeed babies. I on't remember the link but it was a youtube video. A play on breastfeeding and at one point it said you try to eat with a blanket or towel on your head. It showed someone doing it and how funny and unnatural it looked.

Another thing is that even if you use a cover, baby pulls off all the time inless maybe sleeping depending on baby too.

I guess I would just say if you don't want to look at it don't by moving to anothger spot.

I would think its pretty rude to take a photo and post it. Its jus the natural way to feed a child, if you on long commute, and baby is hungry, what can you do ? It is only natural thing... But posting a photo is mean....
