"Advertising Regulation" Essay <--- Titles are always with capital letters
With the popularity of advertising, people cannot avoid facing a lot of information about various products, which usually are pushed to their eyes. This trend brings some serious problems to our society, which may harm a consumer’s interests or change our habits, and we need proper regulations and other measures to normalize it.
Advertising poses harmful effects on society in different aspects. Firstly, in order attract more the consumers’ attention, there are more and more advertises that provides fake information about the products or to boast the utilities of the products. This can easily mislead some consumers to make an incorrect choice, so it seriously harms the interests of consumers and affects the market negatively. Secondly, some advertisers aim their marketing at children because children can easily be influenced by advertising, and therefore children put pressure on their parents. This is bad to children’s growth. Finally, adverting is a very powerful tool to deliver information to the public, so it can easily change the shopping trend, which may cause harm to (which may harm a city's) a city’s market and even its economy.
My suggestions to deal with this problem are as follows. We need to create advertising regulations to make advertising more reliable, thus supplying us with more safe commodities. For example, there should be a warning on the advertisements of unhealthy commodities, such as cigarettes. Advertiser who produce unreal product information or try to cheat consumers to promote sales should be punished strictly. At last, we can control or ban the advertising aiming at children, preventing children from those bad influences. Furthermore, consumers should be educated to detect those with cheating information, deterring advertisers from making fake information. At the same time, advertisers (the advertiser) should be provided with law education to help realize the danger and punishments (concequences) of unlawful advertising.
In conclusion, even though advertising have some harmful effects on our society, there are some measures that can change this situation, such as adopting strict regulations on advertising and banning or controlling certain advertises.
