Half Magic Book Report
Today I read a book called Half Magic. It’s a story about four children, Jane, Mark, Katharine, and Martha. Jane is the oldest, Mark is the second oldest, Katharine is the middle girl, and Martha is the youngest. They never go to the lake or to the country, because their father was dead, and their mother worked on the other newspaper and almost no one took the newspaper. Instead, the four children play with each other and go to the library and borrow books.
One day (in chapter 1), when the children were coming home, Jane suddenly found a silver coin, it looked like a nickel, and that is what Jane thought it was in the first time.
On one Tuesday (in chapter 2), the four children was playing in the bedroom, Jane was so bored that she wished that there were a fire! But what they heard was a fire siren! It was a “half-fire”.
On Wednesday (in chapter 3), Mark had been roller-skating around the corner and wished that there was a desert island, and he ended up in a desert (which was half of “desert island”).
On Thursday (in chapter 4), the four children knew that the coin was doing things by halves. So Katharine wished that all the children was twice as far in the times of King Arthur, and the children landed in the times of King Arthur.
On Friday (in chapter 5), the children went to the movies and Martha wished she wasn’t there so she became a “ghost” (wish means she’s half there).
On Saturday (in chapter 6), Jane wished that she belonged to another family, only twice. So all the children used the charm to rescue her.
On Sunday (in chapter 7), the children rested, and Jane said that “7” is a magic number.
On Monday (in chapter 8), the children’s mother married Mr. Smith.
I want to recommend this book to everyone!
